About me

Hi,

You could say that Internet is my passion. When I finished my Economics Bachelor degree @ ULB, I needed new spaces to explore and rapidly turned to the Internet. The Web is fascinating in the way it transforms all conventional systems, business and social networks, opening doors to all kinds of innovations. Every day is a discovery journey full of new ideas and opportunities.

Unfortunately, I get started just after the bubble bursting. The gold rush generated by the Web did not escape the usual mistakes such boom creates and the initially over enthusiastic markets turned out to be over pessimistic. The entire buzz generated around the bubble drawn aside the attention and hid the real impact of the Web. This story has just slowed down the learning curve and the Web integration at all levels in the company and in our day to day life, but the Web is still there and moving forward. Soon, the Internet and its applications growth will be powered by the 3G mobile phone, so you should get on board quickly if you want to keep understanding where we are going.
What do I do today?

Consultant is not very concrete and if I specify Web Consultant, then it sounds like I am an IT guy. So I describe myself as a Web Architect or an eMarketing Architect. The Web Architect builds a bridge between worlds. It is a key position in the Web organization today, the visionary who bridges the Web content, e-Marketing and technical domains, acting as a pivot point between the technical and the nontechnical members of the Web team. So, I am not a developer as an Architect is not Mason or a Plumber. I design the project and then make it happen by dealing with the different persons/functions involved.

It is not only a bridge between IT and the the rest of the company, it is also the education of the management and marketing department to understand the new environment, integrate new skills and the fundamental changes the Web brings into their world (dialog, marketing automation, SEO, consumer generated content, third party sellers like eBay, Web Analytics, Pay-per-performance, click through rate…). Most of the time companies limit their Web plan to a website, nothing very developed and certainly not integrated to their business model.

So it is my job to help building awareness about this, bringing some structure into it and make it happen.

Google Adwords is one of my favorite button to push first. Even the persons aware of it don't really measure how it dramatically changes the advertising industry. Google managed to develop a very innovative concept and actually walk the talk. I became a Google Qualified Professional 2 years ago and I have done enough of it to see the high performance no other communication channel can deliver so far.
