Hakkımda

Pavel Černoch, PhD (1969), is a Czech historian and political scientist from Prague. He works as a lecturer in the European Parliament. Gifted with a musical ear, Pavel speaks fluently thirteen (13) languages, including his three mother tongues: Czech, German and Serbo-Croatian.
Born in the spa town of Marienbad, he grew up on both sides of the Iron Curtain. After the Czechoslovak Velvet Revolution (1989) he became a student leader (AEGEE), travelled extensively in Europe, USA and Israel. M.A. degree at Erlangen-Nürnberg University (History, Pol.Science, Slavonic studies, in 1995). Worked for the EU Delegation in Prague and became involved in the reconciliation process in Czech-German relations.
In 1999 he moved on to Charles University, in order to teach about the EU. In 2000/2001 visiting professor at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. PhD in European Studies (CU Prague, 2002), research at the European University Institute in Florence, OSI Policy Fellow.
His academic focus is on transatlantic relations, Central Europe, EU enlargement and European identity. In 2003 he came to Brussels as Director of the Czech Centre (Czech Cultural Institute). Between 2005 and 2007 he worked at the Czech Permanent Representation to the EU in the rank of counsellor as Public Relations representative. In February 2007 he joined the Press Service of the European Parliament.
With Andrea Černochová-Kandertová of Prague he has one daughter (Elin, born 2002) and one son (Robin, born 2009).
