About me

Sam Mhlungu is a managing member in Bagale Environmental Services - a landscape architectural practice. He has been instrumental in the formation of a landscape architectural practice, Outer Space Planning & Design Group, together with Alan Cooper.
In addition, Sam served as a founding member of Pula Ya Na Landscapes (Pty) Ltd. He later went into a joint venture with a Danish landscaping company I Thomsens Anlaegsgartneri A/S, to form The Garden Boyz (Pty) Ltd.
His experiences include involvement in the landscaping of the Samrand project in Midrand. He has also been involved in the landscaping project at the Maguga Dam and The Glen housing in Pigg's Peak, Swaziland.

Prior to landscaping - he was a copywriter at McCann Erickson Advertising and he later joined a non-governmental organization, Trees for Africa (TFA) as a project officer. It is through his experience and exposure at TFA that Sam developed business interests in landscaping.
During his stay at TFA Sam was involved in a study trip to Israel and a course on Human Perspectives in Natural Resource Management run by the World Conservation Union (IUCN) in Harare, Zimbabwe.
He left the organization to start his own landscaping business. He has visited Denmark and Wales as a member of Business-to-Business delegations.
He served as a member of the South African Council for the Landscape Profession (SACLAP) - a statutory body.

Sam's landscape consultancy Bagale Environmental Services CC has been involved in the award winning Freedom Park project as part of the NBGM Landscape Architects. Also involved in the landscape design of the Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane, Limpopo - a 2010 World Cup venue.
