About me
Following many years as an IT Director with FTSE100 company, Blue Circle I was made redundant in 2000 prior to the acquistion by Lafarge. My career had previously been in IT for over 40 years.
I now would describe myself as a professional organiser and networker having taken stock of my strengths (and weaknesses).
I was delighted to be the Country Manager for Xing here in the UK for a couple of years but I also find time for a few other activities. I co-founded and am still Chairman of The IT Directors Network (
http://www.itdirectorsnetwork.com), am the Past Chairman of the London Branch of the International Wine & Food Society (the world's oldest gastronomic society http://www.iwfs.co.uk), run my own consultancy firm which organises events for clients (http://www.blackraven.co.uk), am Past Chairman of ELITE (the British Computer Society's forum for IT Directors http://www.elite.bcs.org) and founded the Great British Business Alliance (http://www.britishbusinessalliance.com) in May 2009. To keep busy I am also the Ttreasurer of the ISSA (the leading association for those involved with IT Security) http//www.issa-uk.org and more recently appointed the Managing Director of Abby Solutions in the UK (http//www.abby-solutions.co.uk)I enjoy challenges and meeting people. Hobby wise - obviously food and wine, but also clay pigeon shooting.
