Blind athletes have immediately accepted it with enormous enthusiasm and demonstrate their capabilities. At the begining of 2004, the number of blind athletes who are able to sail by themselves is 164. The Homerus Association offers sailing courses on continuous, regular basis. Courses on offer are: initialisation, match-race and instrumental navigation.
