Readable = easy, interesting and enjoyable to read. My translations are always readable!
The English suffix -able often corresponds to the German -bar. The river is navigable; der Fluss ist schiffbar. Not so with readable. If a book is "lesbar," the text may be only just about intelligible. For a book to be readable, on the other hand, it actually has to be enjoyable to read. English texts that don't read well won't be read at all.

Professional Experience: Translation and Teaching Translation
* I have been working full time as a translator since May 2010. My output has spanned a number of genres in that time: a book, a website, a film script, and various academic reviews and essays.

* As a postgraduate student at NUI Galway in Ireland, I taught courses in German-English translation to Erasmus students from Germany and to final-year participants in the B.A. programme in German.
* Before embarking on postgraduate studies, I worked for two German companies active in the areas of IT and digital technology, the medium-sized IT-consultancy DVMB AG in Solingen (February 2000 to March 2001) and Quantec Tonstudiotechnik GmbH, Clemensstrasse 3, 80803 Munich (November 1999 to February 2000). I translated technical documentation, press releases and press clippings for both companies.

Education
I did not complete my doctoral thesis in modern German literature at the National University of Ireland, Galway. However, the time spent on this project did give me a chance to perfect my knowledge of German (in Berlin and in Galway) and to acquire specialist competence in the humanities and the social sciences which I draw on extensively as a translator.
