About me

I started my career in 1995 with the German media company Bertelsmann in Shanghai, China. A very exciting time as this tremendous market just started to open up. It was here when I learnt about the internet and in 1997 my team launched the Bertelsmann Book Club website, probably the first e-commerce site in China. Things got on a different level when in 2000 I headed a team to set up BOL China , the first international online retailer operating in Mainland China. Then, after 7 years in Shanghai, I needed a break and was happy to move to Sydney in 2002 to manage the operations of the Bertelsmann Book & Music Clubs in Australia and New Zealand. But it took me just two years and I was suprisingly back again in Shanghai, following an old desire to set up my own company. Hence I invested in and became a partner of eDongcity, a small mobile entertainment start up company. A logical step, as after catalogue and internet, mobile was for me the next major channel to distribute media content. At eDongcity I lived through all the up's and down's of a start up company and learnt the lesson that it is much harder to get investments from the market than a company board. But luckily things turned out well and in January 2007 eDongcity was acquired by Buongiorno / Mitsui and I was back again in an innovative global operating company. These days my passion is to work on cutting edge music technology to make the user access to large digital music libraries easier and by far more exciting.
