Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
 
gerne möchte ich mich kurz vorstellen:
 
Seit 1999 bin ich erfolgreich freiberuflich tätig.
 
Meine Hauptausrichtung als CISSP (Certified Information System Security Professional) und CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) liegt im Wesentlichen in der strategischen Beratung von Middle- und Senior Management in allen Fragen rund um das Thema Informationssicherheit.
Als Manager auf Zeit erarbeite ich für die Unternehmensführung pragmatische Empfehlungen mit vernünftigem Augenmass, um den verschärften Compliance und Governance Anforderungen (Sarbanes Oxley, HIPAA, Gramm-Leach-Bliley, Basel II (MA-Risk), KoTraG, PCI-DSS...) gerecht zu werden.
 
Bei der Beratung meiner Auftraggeber aus dem Middle- bzw. Senior Management tritt eineTechnikorientierung oft in den Hintergrund. Wenn es jedoch gilt zwischen technisch orientierten Fachabteilungen und dem nicht technisch orientierten Business zu vermitteln, erweist sich meine berufliche Historie als UNIX und Netzwerkspezialist als enormer Vorteil.

Hello and welcome !
 

My name is Steffen Müller. I am a freelance senior security consultant since 1999. During the last 3 1/2 years, my focus started expanding from VPNs,PKIs and some UNIX towards business oriented areas in the information security field such as compliance centric issues.
 
My IT background reaches back to around 1980 when i started to play with Triumph Adler and OLIVETTI machines at my dad's office. After my "Abitur" i tried to study Information Sicience but finally gained my "Technischer Assistent Informatik". Earning some money started in the early 1990's as i happened to work with IBM and SIEMENS Mainframes plus some AIX and ULTRIX machines as a system and network operator. While still employed at a datacenter, i was allowed to start my own small consultancy business as a second job.
In 1995 i was really lucky and was able to join Xlink, one of the first two Internet Service Providers in Germany as a network specialist. In 1996 i shifted my focus more and more towards the new upcoming VPN and security solutions we crafted for large customers such as insurance companies. In 1997 i had the chance to head over to Xlink Cologne and built the Internet technical team of the newly founded Xlink Consulting company. I really loved my time with Xlink, the great people and the spirit within early Xlink years. In 1999 however, Xlink was devided and parts got bought by the dutch/american KPN/Qwest consortium. The IMHO always fragile DOTCOM bubble, arrogance and hype of the durch/american consortium was not mine and most of my team members neither. This was the time to start my own business which i am running succesfully as of today.
 
I received my CISSP in January 2005 and my CISA in June 2006
