About me
About me:
I am married and have two children (who provide more stress tests than anything that Deutsche Bank can ever throw up).
Thorsten Schmidt - Short CV :
Between November 2001 and April 2006 I worked with the accounting firm Ernst & Young AG in Frankfurt am Main (formerly: Arthur Andersen Steuerberatungsgesellschaft Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft mbH) and finished there as team head in the Global Financial Services division. Among my clients were domestic and foreign banks and financial institutions, specialized commercial banks as well as companies in the Leasing- and Factoring business. I conducted statutory audits under para 316 of the German Commercial Code and the following as well as reportings under IFRS and offered my clients services with regard to the Minimum Requirements for Risk Management (MaRisk).
In May 2006 I joined Deutsche Bank AG for a new challenge. Within Group Audit I worked in the Finance Team for Continenantal Europe as an IFRS expert to transition the team from a US GAAP based approach. I coordinated global and local Finance audits and covered Finance processes in all of DB's major Business Areas.
In February 2009 I got the opportunity to step up into a global role as Technical Officer, reporting to the Head of Professional Practices and Development and the COO of Group Audit. I took over responsibility for further developing DB's Audit Methodology and providing guidance to all DB Group auditors globally. From September 2009 Quality assurance (IIA Attribute Standard 1300) was added to my scope of duties.
In 2010 I joined the Group Audit Management Committee in a secretarial and methodology consulting role. I obtained the IIA's professional qualifications for Quality Assurance and became a CIA and CFSA, led Internal and External QA reviews and also worked on regulatory topices.
In 2011 I got involved in more work with professional bodies such as the German Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors, became a working group member to develop a competency model and, since November, as a member of the working group MaRisk. I obtained the IIA's CCSA qualification and got ITIL certified

Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood (Marie Curie).
For the secret of rulership is to combine a belief in ones’s own infallibility with the power to learn from past mistakes (George Orwell – Nineteen eighty-four).
The skillful commander takes up a position in which he cannot be defeated and misses no opportunity to master his enemy (Sun Tzu - The art of war)
Are rats comrades? The vote was taken at once, and it was agreed by an overwhelming majority that rats were comrades. There were only four dissentients, the three dogs and the cat, who was afterwards discovered to have voted on both sides. (George Orwell - Animal Farm)
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today. And then one day you find ten years have got behind you. No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun (Time - Pink Floyd)
Somebody's gonna freakin pay for screwin up my vacation! (Duke - Duke Nukem 3D).
