About me
Prior to the formation of the Foreign Policy Group, Timothy L. Towell served the United States Peace Corps as Director for Africa. Holding this position from 1991 to 1993, Timothy L. Towell oversaw all Peace Corps activities on the African continent and ensured the effective administration of the program. Timothy L. Towell was appointed to this role following three years as the United States Ambassador to Paraguay under President George H. W. Bush. The Deputy Chief of Protocol of the U.S. from 1983 to 1988, Timothy L. Towell invested his work with a rich history of involvement in various U.S. embassies and consuls across the globe. Timothy L. Towell also worked as Legislative Management Officer for the Office of Congressional Relations in the U.S. Department of State.
Throughout the 1970s and 1960s, Timothy L. Towell built his foreign service experience in such roles as Deputy Chief of Mission (U.S. Interests Section) in Havana, Cuba; Political Officer in the U.S. Embassy in Brussels, Belgium; U.S. Consul in Porto Alegre, Brazil; Spanish Desk Officer for the Department of State; and Bolivian Desk Officer for the Department of State. A recipient of the U.S. State Department Superior Honor Award, Timothy L. Towell holds an M.A. in European History from Case Western Reserve University and a B.A. in Political Science from Yale University.
