Volkmar Heitzer joined IBM in 1995 after his Master of Arts in Business from Giessen University, Germany and has over 15 years of international experience in the consulting business, mainly in the chemical/pharma and financial sector. Since April 2010 Volkmar is the Client Executive for several Swiss HQ based insurance companies. Previously, Volkmar Heitzer worked as Associate Partner leading the Sales & Solution team for Application Management in Global Business Services (GBS) CEEMEA where he led a distributed team across the CEEMEA region. In that role Volkmar led the implementation of the Application Management Services (AMS) Global Delivery model in CEE and CEMAS countries. After the regional reorganisation of IBM's Growth Regions Volkmar led the Sales & Solution team for GBS-AMS in ALPS.
Before he switched to IBM Switzerland, Volkmar was in charge for the Supply Chain Practise at GBS Public Sector of IBM Germany. Prior Volkmar Heitzer worked as Executive Assisstant to the EMEA Vice President and was in that role deeply involved in the operational set up along with the merger of PWCC and IBM. Besides his interest in travelling he is co-author of a book about the challenge of e-taxation in distributed companies. Volkmar Heitzer is a member of IBM's "Big Deal Maker Team".

From 1997 to 2001 Volkmar has been the lead consultant for a global Pharma Company in the BeneLux countries. Volkmar led together with the client's CEO and HR team the change process to turn the clients BeneLux' pharma business into an B2B/e-commerce model. Since that, Volkmar has been a constant sparing partner to the clients Pharma Board in it's Headquarter in Leverkusen.
