Pacific Merchant Marine Council, Navy League of the United States

The council supports and advocates for our nation's merchant marine and maritime industry. USA's strength and defense depend on them!

Phelps Hobart Pacific Merchant Marine Council San Francisco Luncheon, March 13, 2017
Two councils have our luncheon with guest speaker Elaine Forbes, http://sfport.com/executive-staff#Forbes Monday, March 13th.
• The Pacific Merchant Marine Council of which the port has been a much appreciated community affiliate member since the council’s inception ten years ago.
• The San Francisco Council, one of the oldest in the Bay Area.
We'll meet at the popular Scoma’s Restaurant, 1965 Al Scoma Way, Pier 47, Fisherman’s Wharf, http://scomas.com.
There’s complementary vehicle parking. The networking/socializing starts around 11:30 am with the lunch orders going in shortly after noon.
Anticipate a luncheon cost of $60 per person.
Phelps Hobart Good News for 2016 - The Dues Have Been Reduced!
The Navy League's Board of Directors met in early December. Up for discussion and a vote was the League's dues. The outcome...
From $65 per year the dues were reduced to $55. Join for more than one year and the savings increase further. Join as an E member - E for electronic - and the cost drops even further! One year is $25! The drawback is that you don't receive the hard-copy of the annual almanac or the Sea Power magazine. Need to view them online. Still, all the benefits of membership apply.
There isn't a better way to show your support for the United States' Sea Services - the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and US flag Merchant Marine. Check out http://navyleague.org/membership.
Phelps Hobart Check us out on the internet then inquire about coming aboard as a dues paying active member. We have members everywhere though council activities remain centered in San Francisco Bay Area.

Phelps Hobart NLUS PMMC and SF HSC meeting July 10th at the California Maritime Academy
Ahoy Members and Friends,
We're going to try something different for our luncheon meeting.
First, try to attend and observe the Harbor Safety Committee's meeting then gather for lunch afterwards.
Admiral Cropper has invited us to use the new dining room so let's accept his invitation!
In addition, the council is initiating action to start a NLUS student chapter; I hope to meet with appropriate individuals at the Academy bright and early on the 10th. I'll endeavor to have additional information at lunch. Faculty advisers are a critical element to make a success of this; to see what I am suggesting see http://navyleague.org/membership/student.html.
I'll have information on the FuturePorts Conference and the Navy League Convention that I attended.
Heave Ho,
Phelps
