IKN GmbH is a privately owned medium size company, whose root and strength within the cement industry is the field of clinker cooling.
With the company foundation in 1982, IKN revolutionized the cement industry with the development of the clinker inlet distribution system called KIDS. Whereas it has been introduced as an upgrade to existing clinker coolers, KIDS forms today an integral part of the IKN Pendulum Cooler®. Further innovations such as the highly precise and wearless mobile frame support called LPS® manifested the company’s success.
IKN GmbH now has more then 150 employees, mainly graduate engineers, specialized in design, process, erection and project management.
The latest generation Pendulum Cooler® combines all advantages of the proven technology with a significant number of evolutionary developments regarding grate technology and clinker flow. The resulting performance exceeds today’s requirements in every aspect.
Today more than 300 IKN Pendulum Coolers® are in operation worldwide. These references include coolers with production capacity from 500 to 14.750 tons clinker per day.
In 2002, IKN extended its competence towards the entire kiln burning line through a close cooperation with the Czech company PSP. Since then the complete pyro process know-how is integrated into the IKN group and the name IKN now stands for excellent pyro line technology including preheaters, kilns, coolers and corresponding environmental applications. More than 40 pyro projects have been successfully executed so far. One of the recent pyro projects was the revamping of a 4.000 tpd line at HeidelbergCement plant in Burglengenfeld, Germany. Two existing lines were consolidated to one pyro line only. The new preheater with inline calciner, kiln modification and cooler were supplied by IKN. The milling and filter package were also part of IKN responsibility. The new kiln line started production in April 2018.
Another important project with HeidelbergCement was recently realized in Vác, Hungary. The existing pyro line was adapted to producing clinker using up to 100% RDF in the calciner. The two lower cyclone stages were replaced, a complete new preheater tower with the inline calciner was erected, a new bypass system, as well as a new static inlet in the clinker cooler, were installed.
IKN customers rely on local offices for service and sales in China, Singapore, Thailand, USA, India, and Brazil, whereas engineering remains concentrated at IKN’s head office in Neustadt.
