ASAM International Conference - Big Data in Future Car Development - Chances for Engineering, Value for the Driver (Dec. 08. - 09, 2015, Dresden, Germany)

„Big Data“ is not only a buzzword, but “Big Data” has a huge impact on the automotive future. As the automotive industry continues to focus on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, smarter powertrains, V2X communication, and Autonomous Driving, more and more data will be acquired, stored, accessed, analyzed, retrieved – and shared. Additionally, concerns over data security and privacy raise questions and impose challenges on the current setting in the automotive industry.

However, Big Data also means great potential for cost savings: Systematic data feedback from vehicles on the road can feed into the vehicle development and manufacturing process to improve quality and to avoid costly recalls. Intelligent data management also elevates the role of simulation thus delaying the need for prototypes into a later stage of vehicle development. And there are many more advantages for vehicle development, manufacturing and for the driver experience.

The ASAM International Conference will bring the global experts from the data cloud, warehouse, and analytics community together with the automotive community to address these challenges. We want to build a technological – and maybe cultural – bridge between the very agile “Silicon Valley” way of thinking and the car industry business.

Discuss with experts from IBM, DataStax, and Cray on the use cases from other industries concerning the Internet of Things, Data Lakes and Automated Analytics. Learn from BMW, GM, Bosch and Cummins how they are using Big Data technologies today at their company in simulation, testing and manufacturing, and their plans to extend their use in the future.

ASAM is also looking forward to proposals and lively discussion on where standardization can support this process, such as further developing ASAMODS or creating brand-new standards that enable "Big-Data" in our industry.
