IxDA Hamburg & UX Roundtable proudly present William Hudson

Williams Hudson: "The psychological basis of nerdiness and its impact on user-centred design"
Hi everyone!
To our first joined event of IxDA Hamburg and the UX Roundtable we are proud to invite William Hudson, a User Experience Strategist who consults, writes and teaches in the fields of user-centred design, user experience and usability.
On Thursday, November 4th 2010, William will give a talk providing insight to the challenges we, as technology focused specialists, face in designing for the average user.
This talk will be based on William’s short paper to the CHI and British HCI conferences in 2009 about his large-scale study of IT workers.
The application of empathizing-systemizing tests found that technologists have substantially reduced empathizing skills and consequently have real difficulty in appreciating that others do not understand technology in the same way they do.
This will not come as a surprise to anyone who has worked in the IT industry for any length of time, but it does serve as justification for many of the activities undertaken in user-centred design.
This promises to be an enlightening talk with much debate on William's study.
The event will take place at betahaus Hamburg and starts at 7 pm - thanks to Wolfgang and the betahaus team! http://hamburg.betahaus.de/
I would also like to mention that William will give a workshop on November 5th 2010 about "Agile UX and User Centered Design". The early bird special ends September 21th - so be fast and grab a seat!
