and Innovative Flame Retardants for Plastics. This conference will focus on the latest status and trends in fire safety regulations and tests, environmental aspects and sustainability.

This 15th conference on fire safety and innovative flame retardants for plastics will focus on the latest status and trends in fire safety regulations and tests, environmental aspects and sustainability, as well as on the advances in innovative flame retardant systems and their use in polymers. In addition, this conference aims at presenting R&D innovations from academia and institutes and their transfer to industrial applications.

Changing fire safety requirements in building and construction, mass transport, and E&E applications may dramatically influence the use of materials and products in these fields. They are addressed in presentations on important developments in building (fire safety of façade thermal insulation, ongoing toxicity debate), transport (revision of European railway fire protection standard) and E&E (future requirements). In addition, the role of bench-scale fire testing in research and development to evaluate new flame retardant systems will be presented.  

Under the heading environmental aspects and sustainability, papers will discuss dust emission from flame retarded carbon fibers, the end of life of flame retarded plastics, and new advances in bio-based, sustainable flame retarded polymers.  

The presentations on innovative flame retardants and flame retarded polymers start with new flame retarded coated polystyrene foam, and a paper on cyclotriphosphazenes (synthesis and flame retardant applications). An overview on the development of new flame retardant systems based on radical generators and papers on the use of glass foam powder in various polymers show the growing importance of synergists. Ageing, long-term performance and recycling of FR polymers are another important aspect discussed. Last not least, new optimized flame retardant systems for engineering plastics such as PA and PBT as well as for polyurethane foams and cellulosics are presented. 

Due to the increasing globalization of fire safety requirements, flame retardants and flame retarded plastics’ markets, this conference addresses an international audience with all presentations given in English.

The conference will take place again in the beautiful Würzburg castle location and give you the opportunity to discuss and network with international experts and speakers from Germany and abroad. Conference chairman and speakers will have pleasure in debating challenges and issues with you to find solutions to your specific problems.
