Job Description

Performance Engineering team has an exciting opportunity for a creative and experienced software performance engineer in Krakow. The performance engineer is a pivotal role in the organization with responsibility for performance and reliability engineering Sabre’s most mission critical systems. This position will provide the candidate with the opportunity to work with a variety of people at all levels both technical and management across the enterprise. We are currently looking for:

Software Performance Engineer – Lead

The candidate will join a very collaborative team that is passionate about performance measurement and automation. A software performance engineer’s primary responsibility is the creation of test harnesses to inject load, analyze metrics from application and system logs, and simulate system behavior to improve the performance and reliability of Sabre applications. In addition to being very interested in tool development, the candidate should also have enthusiasm for troubleshooting, analyzing and resolving complex problems. The candidate must demonstrate strong problem solving and communication skills, and be prepared to be a knowledgeable performance engineering resource on multiple initiatives of diverse scope.


  • Leads a team responsible for assessing performance risk, identifies critical use cases and select key performance scenarios. Establish performance objectives.
  • Works closely with business and product areas to translate business and development plans into enterprise-wide transaction sequencing models.
  • Responsible for determining software/hardware resource requirements across Sabre critical open systems. Utilizes statistical performance analysis and modeling techniques to validate transaction forecasts.
  • Works closely with end-to-end capacity planner to integrate performance measurement data into capacity analyze the performance benchmark and validate with end-to-end transaction sequences/rates.
  • Uses rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions.
  • Responsible for analyzing software products through the use of systematic effective performance tests to develop, apply and maintain quality standards for company products.
  • Establish performance objectives and workload intensities for quantitative performance criteria/scenario.
  • Manipulates measurement data into concise, clear reports for all levels with-in Sabre.
  • Asks probing questions to obtain critical information for decision-making.
  • Identifies problems and associated performance measurement risks. Technical consulting on automation issues, tools and processes.

Job Requirements

‘Must have’ skills:

•Strong programming, testing and debugging skills in Java or C/C++ and Python or Perl
•Strong self-driven collaborator with ability to work in diverse teams as a contributing member
•Knowledge of distributed systems
•Strong knowledge of Linux (Unix) commands
•Good understanding of SQL and previous experience with ORACLE databases
•Effective data analysis and problem solving skills
•Working knowledge of at least one of the Load testing tools (JMeter, Grinder or Load Runner)
•Exceptional verbal and written English skills

‘Nice to have’ skills:

•Java internals knowledge, with concentration in memory management and Garbage Collection algorithms for server-side applications
•Strong interest in one or more of the following
•System Monitoring and instrumentation
•Statistical methods and tools
•Performance of databases
•High-performance software design and concurrent programming
