The Max Planck Institute for Medical Research is one of 84 institutes and research centers of the Max Planck Society (MPG) for the advancement of science. Our focus is on basic medical research. We currently employ around 270 people in science and administration, mainly at our location in Heidelberg. Another location for our institute is currently being established in Heilbronn. The Department of Cellular Biophysics (Prof. Dr. Joachim P. Spatz) is looking for an
Engineer, Technical Assistant (CTA) or Laboratory Technician in the fields of battery-related applied chemistry, synthetic chemistry and battery technology.
YOUR TASKS
- direct collaboration with PhD students and postdocs on cutting-edge research
- fabrication of novel metal fiber-based current collectors
- processing and analysis of colloid dispersions & polymer materials
- manufacturing and testing of battery electrodes and battery cells
- support the organization of chemistry and battery laboratories
- support the management of research and data infrastructure
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate should have:
- completed vocational training as a technical assistant (CTA), laboratory assistant in physics, engineering or chemistry or a comparable scientific education
- practical laboratory experience in the fields of physics and chemistry
- preferably practical laboratory experience in the context of working with polymers, colloids & nanoparticles or battery research
- excellent organizational and communication skills, high flexibility and team spirit
- independent, goal-oriented, analytical way of working
- very good written and oral communication skills in German and English
- willingness to acquire knowledge in new areas and to contribute creatively to the further development of the research focus
