This position represents an opportunity to join our vibrant company and become part of VMware’s Pre-Sales Engineering / Solutions Engineering team covering Global Accounts. Business is conducted in Global Accounts via a Business Metrics based approach instead of Traditional -"let's do a POC and see where we go approach". This means that we are engaged on broader transformation opportunities most of the time instead of a point product sale.
In this role, you own the strategy and execution to help customers attain their business outcomes with VMware’s network virtualization and security portfolio of solutions. You will also help evangelize and showcase other VMware cloud and SaaS solutions for our Top Global Accounts in the Western region.

From the concept of micro-segmentation to delivering production ready multi-cloud and microservices based application architectures – the use cases and the business outcomes the VMware portfolio of solutions deliver are plenty. We are looking for candidates who are curious, want to solve problems and like to be technically proficient and hands-on to showcase the solution.
Along with being proficient in networking and security technologies we are looking for a candidate who can be a good fit in the Software Defined Datacenter team. This team is tasked with working with large Global customers to deliver hybrid-cloud solutions for various application needs.

As a future team member, you will spend most of your time in front of customers. Many meetings are done thru Zoom, Skype and WebEx as well.
Sharing your learnings with others within VMware is a very critical part of this job. When not with customers, supporting the extended team and sharing your customer needs with business units is a big part of the role.
Map Customer Business Initiatives to VMware Solutions and Strategy
Present VMware’s portfolio vision, architecture, strategy, and product roadmaps to executives, technical management, operations management and technical engineers.
Provide expert technical support for opportunities involving VMware’s networking and security solution portfolio
Maintain deep technical and business knowledge of cloud computing and networking applications, industry directions, and trends.
Maintain working knowledge of peer and competitive landscape
Work with VMware BU GM's and VP to establish executive relationships.
Assist in preparation of proposals, statement of work, and supporting documents for prospects
Lead Proof of Concept exercises for NSX, AppDefense, VeloCloud and other related products in customer labs to validate solutions
Work collaboratively with Product Management, Technical Marketing and Engineering during the development, launch and continuing refinement of VMware products
Lead the technical pre-sales community discussions and facilitate knowledge dissemination to the VMware and Partner Subject Matter Experts with regards to VMware products in conjunction with Cloud solutions and architectures
Document best practices & architectural references in developing and deploying Hybrid Cloud solutions
Global Accounts are the tip of the spear on forward looking trends. Keen eye to watch out for changing trends.
The individual should have extensive architectural skills dealing with infrastructure solutions such as systems management and business continuity.

Have experience with building datacenter networking and security solutions, IT automation, operations and orchestration tools.
Have Experience supporting large customers and/or teams practicing agile and continuous delivery is preferred.
5+ years of experience in technology related areas including: enterprise systems management and infrastructure (datacenter) architecture experience with significant depth around designing, implementing, and managing critical business infrastructure.
Strong technical proficiency with both mainstream and emerging automation and configuration management solutions. Some examples include - vRealize Automation and Operations, Turbonomics, vCenter Orchestrator, Terraform, Jenkins, Puppet, Chef, Openstack, Salt, Docker, Github, etc. We don’t need you to know them all, but you must be good with something here already to be a reasonable candidate.
Willingness to travel, as needed, though not likely to exceed 50% outside of region.
Expert level knowledge of x86 operating systems, networking, storage and programming experience is desirable
Enthusiastic, self-starter with strong Executive Presence
Proven track record of selling services as part of a solution
Strong customer facing and relationship building skills
Must be effective in working both independently and in a team setting
Strong listening and question based selling skills
Ability to uncover business challenges and develop a custom solution to solve those challenges
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, related field or equivalent experience
