UTS:Alumni Shanghai Chapter invites ALL AUSTRALIAN alumni to join them for an evening at Kathleen’s 5 to hear Professor David Kelly, from the UTS China Research Centre, share his thought-provoking views on the Australia-China relationship.

David Kelly studies social sciences and Chinese studies in the University of Sydney, graduating with a PhD in 1982. He subsequently held teaching and research positions in the Contemporary China Centre, ANU (1987-1992), the School of Politics of the Australian Defence Force Academy (1992-1999), and the East Asian Institute, National University of Singapore (2004-2008).

He has mainly lived in Beijing from 1999 to the present, gaining wide experience in the corporate, governmental and NGO sectors. Professor Kelly’s work ranges widely across Chinese politics: intellectual history, especially of Marxism and liberalism; political sociology, mainly of intellectuals, urban homeowners and migrant workers; and public policy, focusing on the dilemmas of governance under turbulent current conditions.
