Owens Corning’s Barry Melnkovic has held four executive-level positions within the company’s human resources division since his recruitment in 2004. Barry Melnkovic was originally sought out by Owens Corning’s CEO and Senior VP of HR to create a comprehensive international human resources strategy as the VP of Global Talent Management & Organizational Effectiveness. The result was the company’s first Global Succession/Talent Management Strategic Plan and Investment Thesis. Barry Melnkovic’s strategies produced talent upgrades and managed growth for identified leaders as well as initiated action plans to address talent gaps. In 2005, Barry Melnkovic was promoted to VP, HR for Owens Corning Construction Services and also acted as Interim COO during a transitional period. Within a month and a half, Barry Melnkovic aligned the BU’s segment leaders around a unifying customer value proposition. In addition, Barry Melnkovic established the first professional technician service model in the industry. When he was appointed VP, HR for Insulation Systems Business in 2007, Barry Melnkovic helped orchestrate the company’s shift from a product-sales organization to a customer-growth focus. Moreover, Barry Melnkovic was responsible for the business unit’s World-Class Talent/Succession Review Process that became the model for positioning key talent across Insulation Systems Business. In 2008, Barry Melnkovic became VP, HR of Owen Corning’s Building Materials Group, where he made crucial contributions, including the orientation of an externally hired President and the reorganization of Owens Cornings’ HR department at all levels. Barry Melnkovic’s operational model was declared an internal leadership best practice to be used company-wide. The thought leader of the integration of Building Materials Groups’ four business units, Barry Melnkovic was one of Owens Corning’s most formidable executives. Barry Melnkovic now makes his home in Holland, Ohio. Before coming to Owens Corning, Barry Melnkovic distinguished himself at Holland America Line, Motor Coach Industries, Inc., Lilly Industries, Inc., Cummins Engine Company, Ashland Chemical, and PPG Industries. Barry Melnkovic holds an MS from Rutgers and a BS from the University of Pittsburgh.
