Dušan Rakić

Along with the professional activities in the field of trade as merchandizer, also in secondary school and during his academic education, over the past 20 years passionately devoted himself to a marquetry technique, rare and old craft; a form of decoration often used in furniture-making.

In cooperation with masters of restoration and conservators restorated marquetry pieces of furniture in the Biedermeier style and Ampir for the art-craft-workshop "Saint Joseph" (City of Belgrade); restorated Biedermeier Salon for Belgrade antique store "De"; has made various marquetry motives for private individuals.

The main goal of my work is to show the beauty and diversity of each individual veneer through
historical drawings made by great drawing masters, and implementation of marquetry ornamentation. Since the drawing is the foundation of the entire holdings of motives and ornamentation.
My second goal is to promote the beauty of marquetry, because it is almost a forgotten art..
