About me

A pioneering ophthalmologist with over 20 years of medical experience, Howard S. Weiss, MD, performs glaucoma and cataract surgery from his offices at Washington Eye Physicians and Surgeons in the Washington D.C./Maryland area. Howard S. Weiss, MD, is a graduate of Yale University, Tufts University School of Medicine, and Harvard University. After earning his Doctor of Medicine from Tufts, Dr. Weiss completed the Master of Public Health program at Harvard University. He served his residency in Ophthalmology at Tufts-New England Medical Center and completed additional fellowship training in glaucoma at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary at Harvard University.

Howard S. Weiss, MD, is one of an elite group of surgeons who implant Crystalens, Tecnis, and Restor brand intraocular lenses, a new technology specifically formulated for patients affected by cataracts. Receiving this type of implant can result in significantly improved vision to the point where, after undergoing cataract surgery, the patient has reduced need for glasses. During his career, Howard S. Weiss, MD, has been instrumental in the development of valuable surgical procedures, such as a drainage tube implant, to reduce elevated eye pressure. In addition, Dr. Weiss has contributed to prominent research projects sponsored by the National Eye Institute of the National Institutes of Health.

Believing in the importance of education and research, Howard S. Weiss, MD, has served faculty appointments at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Georgetown University Medical Center, and Washington Hospital Center. Howard S. Weiss, MD, has delivered a total of 80 lectures on topics of ophthalmology and 20 of his medical articles have appeared in peer-reviewed journals. Certified with the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Weiss is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Glaucoma Society.
