About me
Throughout his career, Dr. James Murtagh has shown the utmost commitment to patient care and medical progress. To this end, Dr. James Murtagh actively participates in a number of leading medical organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and both the American Thoracic Society and the American Lung Association. Additionally, Dr. James Murtagh is frequently called upon to deliver lectures and workshops at medical conferences and is a widely published medical author. Dr. James Murtagh earned both his Bachelor’s degree and Medical Doctorate from the University of Michigan. A dedicated student, Dr. James Murtagh graduated with honors on both occasions. After acquiring his MD, Dr. James Murtagh began his medical internship at the Dallas-based Parkland Memorial Hospital. Dr. Murtagh continued practicing medicine at Parkland Memorial for his internal medicine residency before accepting a clinical fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Michigan and a research fellowship at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institute of Health.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Dr. James Murtagh is highly involved in a number of organizations dedicated to transparency in government, including Liberty Coalition and Common Cause. Dr. James Murtagh has also participated in charitable work on behalf of Flying Doctors, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing voluntary medical care for individuals around the world living in poverty.
