Joe Damore’s expertise comes in part from his five years as President and CEO of Mission Health System and Hospital, a network of four hospitals in western North Carolina with over $900 million in net revenue. At Mission Health System, Joe Damore was responsible for the overall leadership and management of Mission Hospital and Health System , including quality enhancement, financial performance, and health system development and expansion. Joe Damore’s work earned Mission Hospital numerous accolades, including recognition as one of America’s Top 100 Hospitals by Thomson and as a Top 50 Hospital in three clinical areas by US News and World Report. Mission Health System and Hospital was recognized by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement in 2009 as one of America’s highest quality, lowest-cost health care communities; the Commonwealth Fund deemed its quality-improvement programs among the most effective of U.S. hospitals.
Prior to his work at Mission Health System and Hospital, Joe Damore was President and CEO of the Sparrow Health System in Lansing, Michigan, where he converted a single acute care hospital into the region’s leading integrated health care delivery and financing system. Under Joe Damore’s guidance, Sparrow grew to include two owned hospitals, an affiliated hospital, a 100,000-member HMO, Michigan’s largest health club, a successful physician-hospital organization, and a home health care and pharmacy network.
Joe Damore graduated from Thiel College, where he received a B.A. in Biology. He was President of his graduating class and earned his M.S. in Health Services Administration at The Ohio State University. Currently Joe Damore is Chair of The Ohio State University Alumni Association’s Board of Directors.
