About me
Dr. Jorge Walter is an assistant professor in the School of Business at The George Washington University (GWU). Prior to joining GWU, he was a faculty member at Portland State University and the University of Connecticut. He has taught a variety of courses on strategic management at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
He received his master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, and has been a visiting researcher at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a postdoctoral researcher at the Stern School of Business at New York University. Prior to entering academia, he worked in industry in the areas of manufacturing, corporate finance, and strategic management consulting.
His research interests include strategic decision making, knowledge/technology transfer, social networks, and social capital. He has examined these topics in the context of entrepreneurial firms, interfirm alliances, and high-technology industries. His research has been presented at numerous national and international conferences, was nominated for the 2004 Strategic Management Society Best Conference Paper Prize, and has been published in Academy of Management Best Paper Proceedings, MIT Sloan Management Review, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Business Research, and Organization Science. He currently serves as a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Management.
