Who is Lisa Ma? A Young Entrepreneur & Inventor living her dream despite Economic troubles
I am a risk taker, loyal, ethical, caring, honest, intelligent & most importantly I am an Entrepreneur!
I had came to this country with my parents without knowing a spec of English. I had taught myself how to speak and write English on my own. It was tough growing up getting teased at because I was different I was spit and thrown rocks at in school. That drove me to become a stronger person. It pushed me to become a better person for myself, but also it made me realize that those that judge me are not worth my time. Throughout my life with all the bumps along the way I had pushed myself and stayed true to myself.

My role model has always been my mother, she is such a strong women she had worked from day to night just to support her three kids. No matter what decisions I make in my life, in the back of my mind I am always thinking of what my mom would of done. I am the eldest in the family which means I'm the role model to my 2 younger brothers. I had put myself to HS & college & to Grad school. I did not grow up into old or new money, I had never want my parents to fork out their hard earn money. I took out loads of loans for college because I got accepted to a private school in Boston. Did the fifth year program-Getting my BS degree and MBA in Marketing.

I had just graduated in May, during that time I had invented an insole because there was no insole out there meeting my expectations. I had tried so many of them from Dr. Scholls to those free insoles given in retail stores. This insole I had created is antibacterial, versatile(changed to heel grip to ball of foot), strong adhesive, eco-friendly, & most importantly NO GLUE MARKS! I knew that I wanted to own my own business, it took me 8 months to get everything set up when it comes to patent and trademark. Every summer I would work, I had saved enough money for this day. I knew that I wanted to own my own business for a long time, and this is the time that I know deep down in my gut that this risk is the right thing.

After graduation, I had came back to NYC my home. I had landed a full time job. Within 3 months I was on a roll bringing in 100k deals to the company. I was my own marketer creating campaigns and developing new business, since the company didn't have a marketing department. I had to rely on myself. After 3 months, last week I had resigned from my position. There were a lot of things that had build up prior to my 3 months in the company, there was lack of motivation, no morale, management had no leadership and once I heard what unethical strategies that they had I knew in my heart that I will never let down my clients. It is unfortunate that I was most loyal to my clients than my own company. I knew that I had no room to grow, despite how hard I worked I was never appreciated.

When I left, I was scared but at the same time I was leaving for the right reasons and I listened to my heart. The only thing that I hold onto is my dream which will become my reality as I take one step at a time.
I am only 22 years old, but In this next journey, I am ready for the bumps along the way, but I am willing to face them head on.

I know that I have a purpose in life- maybe through this venture of mine I am able to help women who have foot problems, women who want to find their wardrobe style, in addition, giving a portal to talented individuals to showcase their designs and most importantly inspire young women to take control of their lives.
