Thesis: Optimisation of Lateral Beams (with Aston Martin) This project involves the improvement of the geometry and the materials used for lateral beams in Aston Martin vehicles. The work is a reaction to a modification of crash test regulations. The use of software LS Dyna is necessary to determine the performance of these beams under impact conditions.

Development of a parametrical steel wheel model using Catia (CAD) in order to allow Peugeot more control over the development of the wheels manufactured by their suppliers. I undertook calculations to determine the dynamic stiffness of the model. This is now one of the generic models PSA use to simulate steel wheel performance when negotiating with their suppliers.

I worked on the assembly line of the DB9. Firstly I worked at door assembly where I fitted the handles, lock assemblies and windows. I also spent time on power-train assembly where I installed the radiator and used lifting gear to manoeuvre the engine into place. Additionally I worked on the wipers and wiring loom. Apart from the practical element of the work I learned a good deal about the companies overall business activities.
