Mark Cozens is a consultant IIW and EWF qualified welding engineer and founder of the company Weld-Class-Solutions Ltd (http://www.weld-class-solutions.co.uk) which specialises in a broad range of welding engineering and welding technology services for a diverse number of industry sectors.
With some 30 years experience in the field of welding engineering Mark is regarded as the top of his field in providing welding training and consultancy
Mark’s academic achievements include Chartered Engineer registration with the Engineering Council, International and European Welding Engineer, European Welding Inspection Engineer, International Welding Inspector (Comprehensive) along with a variety of other quality assurance, quality control and inspection competence based qualifications. He is also a Fellow of the Welding Institute and Member of the British Institute of Non Destructive Testing.
Prior to this, Mark spent a number of years at TWI Ltd (The Welding Institute) and was Senior Manager for Materials Joining Technology where he was involved with many different aspects of welding and welding inspection technology including the role of Course Director/Principle Trainer and Examinations Coordinator for the International Institute of Welding/European Welding Federation post graduate education and qualification schemes.
In addition to this, Mark played an important creative role in the design and implementation of various welding technology and inspection programmes such as the Certification Scheme for Welding and Inspection Personnel (CSWIP) requirements, related to technologist, engineers, specialists and practitioners. He has also been involved with the Transco/BGAS pipeline construction approval scheme as part of their Management Committee and set up much of the training courses now operated by TWI Ltd. He also had involvement with the Institute of Rail Welding (IoRW) in the capacity as TWI’s Ltd consultant welding engineer and was technical coordinator of the IoRW Training and Competence Management Group before his departure from TWI Ltd in 2002.
He has also been an active member of various working groups in a technical capacity for British Standards on welding inspection including BS EN 970. Mark was also actively involved with the industry based Certification Management Board for Welding and is still a member of the Membership, Education and Registration Committee. He has also been Chairman of the Certification Management Committee of the British Institute of Non Destructive Testing.
More recently, he has worked in a variety of different training and technical capacities over the last seven years and with his expert knowledge has lectured and trained personnel at all levels in a variety of subjects including welding process technology, materials and their behaviour, welding design, quality assurance, quality control, welding inspection, welding procedure and welder qualification, weld failures and other aspects of welding engineering, both in the UK and overseas. He has had extensive experience in the practical aspects of welding technology and the investigation of the causes of failures in welded products.
Mark also has considerable experience as a welding engineer and inspection expert and spends much of his time in conducting product, process and documentation reviews with reference to conformity to specification through a breadth of quality assurance, quality control and welding inspection code and standard requirements.
Prior to his involvement in welding engineering, Mark spent nine years in industry in many broad and diverse applications related to mechanical engineering and welding technology. This ranged from experiences related to medium to heavy engineering products through high volume production and a significant involvement with non ferrous alloys including specialist work for companies involved in aerospace, construction, oil, gas and power generation plant.
Weld-Class-Solutions Ltd operates throughout the UK and overseas markets with a network of Associates who are also expert in their respective fields. Weld-Class-Solutions Ltd is based on the outskirts of the University City of Cambridge in the UK.
