Reed Cagle leads an active and fulfilling life that includes running the natural resource exploration company he founded 15 years ago, providing support for several charitable organizations and taking part in their activities, and participating in recreational activities with his family and friends. Born and raised in Texas, he moved to Colorado Springs in 1999, where he resides with his wife of more than 20 years and teenage son. While oil, gas, and mining are his profession, Reed Cagle’s passion is Outreachers, the not-for-profit organization he formed to help people break the bonds of dependency that often keep them in poverty. Outreachers is active in Mexico and Guatemala, working to teach people in a manner that allows them establish spirit-filled, self-sufficient, sustainable lives. In addition to its emphasis on international aid, Outreachers also sponsors Rocky Mountain Kids, which works with young men and women in Colorado Springs. While Reed Cagle shares his success with Outreachers by providing generous financial support, he also gives of his time and talents by working hands-on with other volunteers in remodeling group homes, constructing additions to the Casa Angelina orphanage, and the numerous other projects and events sponsored by Outreachers.

Reed Cagle’s career in oil and gas began when he was hired as an associate with Kinlaw Oil Corporation in 1986. For the next 10 years, he learned the industry from the inside out, holding positions of increasing responsibility until he set out on his own. In 1997, Reed Cagle founded Heartland Energy Inc.; 15 years later, he still leads the company, which is now HEI Resources, Inc., as President and CEO.

HEI Resources, which recently expanded its oil- and gas-focused operations into projects focused upon mining for base and precious metals, partners with individuals, entities, and industry participants to explore and develop natural resources. The partners in the joint ventures sponsored by HEI enjoy the benefit of controlling the joint venture and directing HEI’s actions as the joint ventures’ managing venturer. HEI then works to carry out those directives for the joint ventures by engaging geophysicists, engineers, operators, and other professionals and service companies.

An enthusiastic outdoorsman and ardent competitor, Reed Cagle plays golf with a 4 handicap and sponsors the Outreachers Chip In Golf Tournament, a charity event benefiting the group. The 2012 Chip In Tournament will be held at Colorado Springs’ famous Broadmoor golf resort in July 2012. Cagle also enjoys cycling, hunting, and fly fishing, and holds a private pilot’s license. Active in his local church, Cagle is frequently called upon to organize men’s activities.
