About me
I am a hard-core techno geek.
I am always:
· Keen on researching and experimenting with new technologies
· Seen active in the playgrounds such as Programming languages, Hardware, Mobile phones, Networking and the Internet
I began my vocation as a Programmer, moved up as Database Designer to Systems Analyst to Lead Architect.
During this phase, I crafted and lead several commercial applications using PHP with MySQL community server or Oracle as the data store.
Currently, I am a lead Technical Author in a software development house called SEEinfobiz Pvt. Ltd.
As a technical writer, my primary role is to make the Project leads and Team leads collectively aware of the scope of each commercial application that is being developed, by crafting the High-level and Low-level design documents.
I closely monitor the life cycle of every commercial application or business process being carried out to ensure the best documentation as the final outcome.
I also consult with several software houses in Mumbai, India, to help them design and manage database applications.
My next most rewarding time is spent in WRITING books. Till date, I have authored and co-authored more than 10 technical books which are widely referred across the globe. These books focus on a wide variety of topics such as Oracle, PHP, MySQL, Linux, Visual Basic .NET, Java Server Programming, Ajax, and so on.
To name a few of them:

As a Technical Author, I have a long experience of producing professional documentation for the IT industry in the form of:
Software Requirement Specifications
High Level Design Documentation
Low Level Design Documentation
Data Dictionary
Use Cases
Test Cases
User Manual
Help Guides
Training Manuals
System Administrator Guides
Installation Manuals
I have developed my own technical writing style based on research and feedback from literally hundreds of end-users over the last seven years. This helps me produce user-friendly, well-indexed, helpful and informative technical documentation.
This is what I believe
I believe in testing myself in every stage of my life
I robustly believe that the only way one can stand out is by executing what one genuinely is fond of
I believe that there should be a business purpose to every fragment of software that is written
I am enthralled by the way computers and software technology can be used to solve problems and improve the world
My line of work
I have worked in the software industry for about 7+ years. It has been mostly in Commercial Application Development domain, but for past 2 years, I have been associated with Open Source technologies. I got introduced to PHP, MySQL, Joomla - A Content Management System and I have taken a liking to its concept. I have been lucky to get introduced to multiple technologies at work and my personal research, which has enhanced my learning ability and so my confidence.
Technically I have worked on Apache, PHP, Perl, MySQL, Oracle, Visual Basic (along with VB 2005) and Java on Microsoft Windows as well as several flavors of Linux (Fedora Core being my favorite).
With the gradually gained focused knowledge of various facets of Application Development domain and an expert team as my base, I've designed, developed and deployed several IT products and solutions.
My Attached With Open Source
I have developed an attachment to the Open Source products which has brought me experience on different products such as:
Wordpress (is installed here on my site @ blog.sharanamshah.com)
Typo3
Joomla (community development split from Mambo)
MediaWiki (is installed here on my site @ wiki.sharanamshah.com)
I read a lot, majority of it online. There are a lot of sites that I read everyday to power myself. This helps me to keep in touch with the latest Open Source Products and try them out practically, thus adding them to my list of products that I know.
