Steven was born in Kawakawa, New Zealand in 1966. A mixture of Maori an Pakeha heritage he was brought up in a the rural township of Milton, South Otago. In 1994 he became one of the first Maori graduates from Otago University with an honours degree in Marketing (MCom). This lead to tenure in Maori tourism at Auckland University of Technology. During this period he entered the fitness industry which would become his calling.

He has been a partner in Les Mills International Ltd (the world's largest provider of group fitness programs) since 1995 and a Director since 2005. He brings vast experience to roles as business consultant, educator and presenter. A former rugby player and iron man triathlete, Steven holds the 1999 Guinness World Record for indoor stationary cycling. Described as one of the world's most experienced group fit experts, he covered over 2 million miles presenting BODYPUMP® between 1996-2003. He has been a key figure in the development of other Les Mills programs including sales and group fitness management.

Steven's expertise ensure a constant demand for his services as an industry consultant and commentator. He is currently based out of Auckland New Zealand as the Global Sales Director of Les Mills International. He is avaliable for corporate and conference workshops and speaking engagements.
