Sven-Olof Koopmann provides senior consulting as well as broad management capability, with more than 15 years active involvement in the German and international telecommunications, broadband and broadcast industries.
CONSULTING AND PROJECTS:
• Business Development for an Pan Asian Satellite Operator within the European Market. Establishment of Up- and Downlink Hubs within the German market for Transmissions of High Quality content (Sports, TV Channels, IP Backbone) into Asia
• Business Development for a European mobile telecom operator in Asia, including business planning and operational support before and after the successful joint venture integration.
• Business evaluation of MMDS / LMDS technologies for broadcast services within developing countries in heavy rainfall urban areas.
• Business and strategic planning for the German digital TV technology platform resulting in a > 95% market share for critical technology elements (Conditional Access, STB-Middleware, BetaResearch products) within the German speaking cable and satellite market.
• Business planning for a major national Free TV broadcaster intending to launch additional digital Pay TV and Interactive TV services.
• Business planning and acquisition of two satellites, launch rockets and insurances for South East Asia purposed for telecom and broadcast services.
• Evaluation and determination of the technology platform for a satellite-delivered (DTH) pay TV service in Asia.
• Technical planning for a digital terrestrial Broadcast Platform (DVB-T) for four South East Asian countries.
• Network optimization for a national horse racing association, including fiber, wireless and satellite transmission technologies.
• Business planning for a BWA (LMDS) technology company and the build up of related services for the Kirch Group in Germany. (The former Kirch Group owned critical patents related to 40 GHz spectrum utilization)

PREVIOUS POSITIONS:
Head of the business development and new technologies division for six years at Beta Research, the former Kirch Group technology company; responsible for a variety of technology development projects, business and strategic planning, and marketing & sales development within the areas of digital broadcast, interactive TV and BWA/LMDS technologies and services.
General Manager for almost four years with Satelindo, a former T-Mobile Joint Venture Company and Indonesia´s largest private mobile and satellite operator; developed and responsible for various GSM, WLL and satellite communications and broadcasting projects.
