The Department of Aquatic Ecology of the BTU in Bad Saarow is characterized by a close interlocking of basic and application-oriented research and teaching in the field of aquatic ecology. The aim is to demonstrate ecological relationships in standing and flowing waters against the background of climate change and the constantly increasing anthropogenic influences, as well as to develop protective measures and concepts for action. Do you have experience in chemical-biological analysis and are you interested in participating in research and teaching in the field of aquatic ecology? These are your responsibilities
Responsible for ensuring the functionality of the chemical-biological analysis laboratory:
- Planning, professional supervision and coordination of work processes
- Monitoring laboratory work and compliance with guidelines, regulations and quality standards for safety and health in the laboratory
- Procurement and storage of materials as well as maintenance and repair of equipment and laboratory technology
- Training and promotion of further education of laboratory users
Water ecology studies:
- Nutrient analyses using elemental analyzer (EA) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-FID and GC-MS)
- Evaluation, validation and interpretation of laboratory results
- Method development
Support with scientific experiments and teaching activities:
- Providing technical advice and guidance to academic and technical staff as well as students in the performance of experiments and the laboratory implementation of scientific questions in the context of courses and theses
Your Skills
A completed university degree (Bachelor / Diploma) in the field of chemical or environmental engineering or in a subject area similarly suited to the job (e.g., biology, environmental sciences).In order to perform the described tasks, the application of the guidelines for quality control as well as the national and international regulations on Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) is mandatory.
You have experience in chemical-biological analysis and are interested in planning and organizing experimental laboratory activities as well as evaluating and interpreting laboratory results.
Solution-oriented action, a good command of English, strong communication skills, the ability to work in a team, organizational talent and assertiveness round off your profile.
