Alvin Chan

Alvin builds and continuously improves on Brandtology’s proprietary social media intelligence system with the latest technologies. His portfolio not only includes the research and technological aspects, but holds the responsibility for operations and infrastructure at both Singapore and China offices.

Alvin conducted R&D and managed projects that delivered complex information security solutions to meet unique needs for the Ministry of Defense and other National Agencies. He specialized in the areas of cyber-defense, information leakage protection, counter-intelligence activities and critical infrastructure protection, and provided consultancy services as a subject matter expert. He led numerous projects that built up capabilities, technological developments and fully operational systems.

Seconded to the Military Security Department (MSD) as a security consultant, Alvin's role and responsibility was to oversee deployment of projects and operationalized them. These areas included, network intelligence, network forensics and cyber defense solutions.

As a research scientist at Axeon, Alvin productized neural network technologies for Internet searching and organization of information. He led research and product development teams and successfully secured funding for one of his product concepts. This led to productization of a organization/collaboration tool for contextual search results using machine learning technology.

Freelancing as a business analyst, Alvin was engaged by companies to identify problems and inefficiencies in their work processes. Generally, leverage on IT solutions that included design and implementation that led to improvements in their productivity with higher turn over.

During his undergraduate studies, Alvin specialized in Software Engineer, Communications Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.

Awarded funding for a PhD program in 1997 by the European Space Agency, Alvin obtained his PhD in Engineering, specializing in the application of neural networks/machine learning in information retrieval, software reverse engineering and network intrusion detection.
