Carla Orozco García

I am currently a scientific employee in the Institute of Wastewater Management and Water Protection (AWW). My main tasks consist in helping with the courses of Chemistry I+II (Bachelor level) and Urban Infrastructures (Master level).

The Lectures for Future project produced digital lecture series dealing with current global environmental challenges, such as those related to water, energy, soil and waste resource management. My main task was to advice lecturers on how to present their research topics in the digital lecture series. This also involved the use of the H5P tools to present lectures in an interactive way.

The RUVIVAL project produced open access e-learning materials concerned with sustainable rural development, specially in the areas of sanitation, water and soil conservation. My main activities in this project were: - supervision of student projects in the production of e-learning materials using H5P tools - coordination of website translation from English to Spanish - production and post-production of educational stop motion videos

During the 4 years I worked at this Environmental Consulting Company I was in charge of the following: - process design of wastewater treatment plants - simulation of wastewater treatment plants using the GPS-X software - elaboration of bidding documents and proposals for governmental bids of wastewater treatment plants - review of technical proposals in governmental bids of wastewater treatment plants

During this research internship I worked on the project on ethanol production from lignocellulosic materials, where I developed an extensive literature review on the topic.

In this research internship I developed my own project looking at neutrophil motility in 3D and endothelial cells with the aid of a confocal microscope.

The main objective of my research project is to develop a holistic framework of strategies to implement a large-scale resources-oriented sanitation system in a peri-urban area in Mexico. In order for the system to be successful, all relevant aspects such as the technological, environmental, economic, governance and social need to be considered. Therefore, I will look at the synergies between these areas and use them to create effective strategies, which will bring the best possible results.

2nd year of Master program, during which I carried out the following: - Research project: “Analysis of the food chain regarding nitrogen footprint on the example of an international conference” - Master thesis: “Large scale Terra Preta Sanitation system for Arba Minch, Ethiopia”. My master thesis involved a 2-month research trip to Arba Minch, Ethiopia.

3-month research project with the title "Literature Review and Document Analysis of 'State of the Art in Food Waste Recycling': Alternative Waste Treatments".

1st Semester of the Master program with the focus of environmental management and planning. Development of the research project: “Biking in Mexico City: Analysis of the current situation and recommendations for improvement”.

Bachelor studies in ITESO University in Guadalajara, Mexico with one exchange semester in the École d’Ingénieurs de Purpan, Toulouse, France.
