During nearly 8 years at Ipswitch I have been responsible for direct and indirect sales of Ipswitch Secure File Transfer solutions into various regions around the world, most recently the UK, Scandinavia and Benelux. Depending on the level of sophistication of the requirement, this has sometimes involved working directly with large corporate customers but primarily I was managing System Integrators, VARs and Distribution partners.

Spent seven months successfully building European sales channels for US/Australian VPN/Firewall appliance vendor, SnapGear. I signed 15 new distribution partners in seven different European countries and grew revenues from under US$10k to over US$50k per month. SnapGear was acquired by CyberGuard (subsequently McAfee) and many of the distributors that I signed were merged into the CyberGuard sales channel.

RapidStream was a VC funded manufacturer of VPN and Firewall security appliances. In the summer of 2000 I agreed to set up the European organisation. I grew the team to four people, established reseller and Integrator sales channels in many countries (e.g. Telindus) and we started to win the first substantial ISP and Enterprise projects. Europe was the largest sales region in all bar two months of RapidStream’s short history, achieving sales of over $500k in 2001.
From starting as Regional Sales Manager I worked up to take responsibility for the complete sales and marketing team for Central Europe. Annual sales into Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Eastern Europe grew to over $8M and I managed a team of 18 sales and marketing people.
