Alturos Destinations provides with it's Peaksolution platform e-commerce and digitalisation solutions for the tourismus industry in the Alpine regions of Europe. As the Techlead and Development Manager for Peaksolution my role involves the management of the development pipeline across 6 teams with 30+ engineers on-site and a remote-team located in Lviv, Ukraine. I manage all development initiatives within Peaksolution for the responsive-, mobile- and self-service channels.

At Africa's largest e-commerce marketplace and online shop, I am managing all IT operations including DevOps (CentOS based private cloud managed via Salt) and software development for web, mobi and native apps (iOS and Android). I lead all SEO, SEM/SEA projects which included the rollout of Rich Snippets, Google Tag Manager (including data-layers for e-commerce) and 3rd party product data feeds to Google Merchant Centre, remarketing companies (Criteo, RTB) and affiliates.

Director for UbuntuDeal group buying (Groupon clone) with the focus on strategic Consulting, brand development, web site traffic growth, SEO and coordinating new development initiatives. UbuntuDeal was a bidorbuy.co.za e-commerce and online shop, successfully competing against Groupon.co.za. The site was developed in PHP, running on MySQL and OpenSource stack (CentOS / private cloud).

As the Java Solutions Architect I managed a team of 20 designers and analysts and was responsible for the design and implementation of all application- and infrastructure architecture solutions for Vodacom's customer channels comprising 12 call-centres, 550 retail franchises and 15,000 corporate users. The Vodacom channel solutions were developed in Java using JEE patterns, running on IBM WebSphere.

Responsible for the design and implementation of First National Banks Branch Banking solution using Java technologies running on IBM WebSphere within a virtual Novell Linux cloud on IBM BladeCentre. I led the architecture team for the retail bank environment defining governance standards (using ITIL) and streamlining the software development life-cycle (SDLC) to support 700 retail branches and 14,000 employees.

Consulted as a performance engineer, optimising the Java application stack for BG-Phoenics in Munich, Germany. The BG-Phoenics application is a document management solution supporting German professional trade associations and government social security funds. The document-centric solution was developed in Java and supports scanning, recognition, indexing and management of 60,000 documents per hour.

The Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (= CEDA) is a government-funded agency to provide financial and technical support for business development in Botswana. The core business of CEDA focuses on the distribution of loans in the commercial-, property-, agricultural- and livestock sectors. The project included a loan-origination and appraisal process which interfaces into SAP and utilises the SAP portal server to present the web-based business application to the end-user.

Designed and developed a brokerage portal for Vereinigte Haftpflicht Versicherungen (VHV) in Hannover. The portal was developed in Java running on IBM Websphere and supported multiple single-signon (SSO) technologies such as RSA SecurID. The portal's functionality covers all aspects of an insurance-broker's requirements (change insurance details, customer details, file damage reports, enquiry of insurance contracts etc.).

Led the design and development of the insurance brokerage portal for VHV Versicherungen. The portal's functionality covers all aspects of an insurance-brokers requirements (change insurance details, customer details, file damage reports, enquiry of insurance contracts etc.). During my engagement I upskilled and managed VHV development and operations staff.

Proof of concept for the development of a web-based document management system. The project focused on the automatic processing of documents (letter, emails, fax etc.) via a web interface. Back-end processes included the archiving of new documents into a document server and retrieval functions to access documents from the optical Jukeboxes.

The Smart.com Microcompact Car Company (a Daimler-Chrysler company) manufactures and distributes in a franchise model the compact Smart-cars. In a restructuring exercise the company focused on launches into new markets. I was responsible for the technical project management and rollout of the Smart car franchises in France, United Kingdom and Taiwan.

Enhancing the OS/2 based client-server application to implement additional functionality to increase productivity at the banks branches. Proof of concept to move the existing OS/2 based branch delivery system to a platform independent format.

I currently work for as CTO for bidorbuy.co.za, South Africa's largest ecommerce marketplace and online-shop.
