I direct user experience design, product design and usability engineering of Brainlab products heading and nurturing a department of 30+ specialists to ensure the user experience of Brainlab products keeps living up to the highest standards of safety, efficacy and joy of use and exceeds these standards in the future.

Responsible for human factors/usability, industrial and user interface design, I manage people and endeavours involved to ensure the User Experience of Brainlab products keeps living up to the highest standards of safety, efficacy and joy of use and exceeds these standards in the future.

I reorganized human factors work at Brainlab, establishing an organizational basis, educating R&D, marketing and product management, introducing HF methodology and strategy. Managing and doing usability engineering and interaction design for medical software and hardware, web and mobile products in this highly regulated environment is my passion.

Applied interface design for medical equipment and software interfaces, development of style guides, usability risk management, organization and documentation of usability certification, regulatory affairs, verification and validation, and usability testing, as well as implementing usability engineering processes, spreading user experience knowledge throughout the whole company and improving the user experience of KARL STORZ equipment in general.

As part of the User Experience team my job was to plan, conduct, and evaluate usability tests, provide in-house consulting to the product teams, and support spreading the idea of user-centered-design throughout the whole company.
