Matt Mills

Between my home in Barcelona and New York where Tiplr is based, I have been working as content contributor and marketing assistant. My role remotely is one of content creation, however, during my time in the Manhattan office my roles involved: PR, social media, online marketing, content translation and transferring, as well as organising and attending events.

As a freelance English teacher, it is important maintain an organised and professional relationship with clients of all ages and abilities. My people skills were finely tuned over this period and my network of professional contacts, and indeed friends, grew significantly.

Teaching a language forces you to become a true expert in it, and this is what happened to me as an English Teacher. My grammar improved hugely and I believe that my time teaching others about my native language truly enhanced my abilities as a writer, editor and proofreader.

As a contributor to the ShBarcelona blog, I was expected to provide a regular flow of quality articles on various topics all to do with Barcelona. My skills such as Wordpress, proofreading, editing, design, writing abilities and communication improved hugely and I truly see this period as a pivotal one in my professional development,

My proudest and most successful moment of my degree was the completion of my thesis, for which I chose to produce a magazine. I wrote all the articles, took all of the photos and designed the whole thing from front to back. The magazine was called 'The Hopper' and focused on island exploration.
