    The selective laser etching (ISLE - In the volume selective laser etching) is a new method for creating microfluidic or micro components in transparent dielectrics. Using ultra-short pulsed laser beam of great intensity, portions to be modified in the dielectric, in a subsequent etching bath having large etching rates. A consistent explanation of the physical processes in the material is not given. One approach is to study the thermal processes in the structuring of dielectrics.
