Luis F Lupian

I have been leading the robotics team at AUTO1 IT in Berlin. The team has been working on developing devices and related technology for the automation of car inspections. My role has involved interfacing with internal stakeholders to define road maps and prioritize tasks. We work under the structure of Scrum. I also designed and set up a new laboratory environment that has unlocked the possibility of performing many necessary experiments for the development of our technology.

I lead a team of young professionals with different engineering backgrounds. With this team, we have developed a domestic service autonomous mobile robot targeted towards the Spanish-speaking market. The project entailed everything from 3D modeling, electronics design, parts selection and integration, prototype manufacturing, as well as software architecture design and development.

Founded the Mobile Robotics and Automated Systems Lab. The research group in our lab is composed mainly of bachelor and masters students. The most recognized project of the group are the humanoid robots Cyberlords La Salle, with which our laboratory achieved international recognition due to the participation in six RoboCup World Championships (Austria 2009, Singapore 2010, Turkey 2011, Mexico 2012, Netherlands 2013, Brazil 2014). Throughout the years, the group has developed other kinds of mobile robots.

As a member of the Executive Committee, I coordinated several aspects of the RoboCup Humanoid League competitions at the international level in collaboration with several colleagues from around the world. I was in charge of the qualification and editorial processes previous to each World Championship, as well as guiding the evolution of the rule book in the Humanoid League.

In addition to the coordination of this academic program, during this time I was part of the team that designed two new academic programs for our institution: Mechatronics Engineering and the Masters of Science in Cybernetics. I also founded the Mobile Robotics and Automated Systems Lab.

Laboratory Coordinator (Analog Signal Processing). I led a team of about six other teaching assistants. My responsibilities encompassed instructing the other assistants in relation to the lab sessions, oversee the condition of lab equipment and materials as well as updating the content and format of lab assingments.

This was a summer job at the Coordinated Science Laboratory of UIUC. The job involved reading and commenting on scientific papers in the field of Decision and Control Theory.

Returned to teaching for one semester, right before starting my graduate studies.

Pre-sales technical support in the area of groupware and networking software. Responsibilities involved the installation of pilot projects at the customer location, teaching technical courses for IBM business partners and technical presentations at industry events.

Development of bank teller software for Grupo Financiero Inverlat.

Participation in the "Academic Excellence Internship" of IBM, which involved taking multiple industry related courses in preparation for entry to IBM Mexico.

My work mainly consisted of tutoring other students on math-related subjects as well as proctoring exams at the Department of Mathematics. During this period, I also taught three courses at the School of Engineering.
