Developing urban-environmental planning and design strategies through 'nature-based solutions' as urban catalyst to reduce urban risk situations, physical fragmentation and social inequalities and contribute to socio-environmental just cities.

Designing a course to contribute to a planning for resilience approach by introducing concepts like ‘ecological “green” infrastructure’ and ‘water sensitive urban design’, for cities in dry climatic conditions experiencing unsustainable urban-environmental development and -water- risk conditions, exacerbated by climatic variability and climate change.

Developing bachelor and master university teaching modules integrating urban design, spatial planning, urban planning and water management.

Architect and urban planning in charge to develop integrative strategic proposals, based on sustainable principles and exchange of knowledge. Considering collective actions & planning and designing for resilience, we look for people's based solutions based on equality, respect, reciprocity and inclusion. We focus in crucial aspects of human development and urban development (infrastructure, risk management, housing, water, energy, ecosystem services).

Developing the "Ecological Infrastructure & water resilience strategies" week-module

Co-designed conference concept considering interdisciplinary knowledge. Co-facilitated discussion among academia, global city-region thinkers, technicians, risk reduction experts and civil society leaders and elaborated final report. Coordinated with third-parties program, installations and funds’ distribution.

Elaborated scientific documents, policy briefs and community newsletters on urban-environmental ‘everyday’ risks and ‘small scale’ disasters in vulnerable communities living in the historic centres and peripheries. Managed administrative tasks, project budget and progress reports to funding body. Co-developed concepts, analysis and workshops. Managed international regional workshop and public event “Participatory co-management for an inclusive, resilient and just city”.

Conceptual design of the Project “Integrated Planning Strategies and Planning Tools” - “Lima Ecological Infrastructure Strategy – LEIS” as part of the “Sustainable Water and Wastewater Management in Urban Growth Centres Coping with Climate Change - Concepts for Lima Metropolitana (Peru) Lima Water ‘LiWa’ Project. Implemented “Sustainable Cities of Tomorrow” pilot project “Wastewater Treatment Park: Children’s Park” in Lima. Led international design studio and international summer school.

Advised and supported the ‘basic module’ subsidy scheme implementation process following Public-Private Partnership (PPP). Supported subsidy scheme process for households affected by the 2007 earthquake in Pisco, Chincha and Ica, Peru. Evaluated basic modules built and delivered by private companies in periurban areas.

Advised the Kosovo Ministry of Public Services (MPS), the Kosovo Cadastral Agency (KCA) and the Kosovo Statistics Office (KSO) and supported and internal displaced people and ethnic minorities property rights, after the conflict. Co-developed and supported the Kosovo cadastral reconstruction and the first Kosovo census. Represented UNMIK in technical decisions and steering committee meetings with donor community and international agencies.

Urban-Environmental planning expert ‘Integral District Development Plans’ Developed participative urban-environmental plans in 4 districts facing ‘shrinking’ and ‘densification’ processes among other urban dynamics.

Designer and Technical Manager ‘Slum upgrading in the Westerm Cape, South Africa. Elaborated technical files for application to social housing subsidy scheme. Implemented ecological sanitation (eco-toleits) for kindergarden in informal settlements in the Western Cape (Kayelitsha, Wallacedene, Hout Bay, Netreg). Introduced and exchanged participatory design methods and tools. Implemented technical training and knowledge exchange among local builders.

Urban planer and designer “New Panamerican Highway N°5” at the National Engineering University - National Privatisation Commission-COPRI, Huacho Elaborated urban renewal plan and projects, designed basic housing units and updated technical information of 320 plots for areas affected by the construction of new Pan American Highway No. 5.

Team leader World Bank Junior Consultant “Urban Property Rights Project” at the "Informal Property Formalisation Commission" (COFOPRI), Lima Surveyed public urban open spaces, infrastructure, state buildings (schools, hospitals), community buildings (kindergardens, community centers) among others. Elaborated technical documentation for registration and adjudication of land.
