About me

I am a full-time freelance professional translator working from French, Spanish and German into clear and concise first-language English. I have an MA in technical and specialised translation and have spent my professional life speaking to and writing for a wide range of clients, from small enterprises and local charities to large multinationals and international organisations.

My clients benefit enormously from the skills and experience I have gained from my diverse portfolio of work. I interact well with people, make sense of complex information quickly and can perfectly match my communication style and working tone to those of my client. I have demonstrated my ability to translate a range of communications into compelling and convincing copy, both in print and online. My particular strengths lie in deftly managing multiple projects, and in producing polished and stylistically powerful prose.

I have been exposed to a range of corporate communications across various specialist industries over the course of my career, including finance, construction and healthcare. I have spent the last decade living, working and/or studying for periods of 6 months or more in each of France, Germany, Spain, Australia, Ireland and the UK.

Most importantly, I love what I do and I get a real buzz from translating. I am currently based in Brisbane, Australia but am fully available to my European-based clients (one of the perks of being freelance!). My goal is to continue to learn about the ideas and concepts driving my areas of specialisation, while maintaining strong language skills across the board. I welcome comments and discussion at my blog There's Something About Translation, at http://www.dillonslattery.com.
