    Your role and responsibilities

    Industrial research within the context of future energy grids in a dynamic and international research center of a leading company. Analysis and synthesis of modern, unconventional and highly-dynamic electrical drives. A detailed landscape study, learning about current technical solutions of ABB and other proposals from the scientific literature. A conceptualization and design study, which can vary from novel concept generation using a pen and paper to a detailed technical solution proposal using state-of-the-art modeling and simulation methods that consider mutual influences between the electrical, magnetic, and mechanical domains. Experimental work would also be included in the scope to validate the theoretical analysis in certain cases. Documenting the relevant findings and presenting the key results to the team.

    Qualifications for the role

    • You are studying for a master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a similar field.
    • You have solid theoretical knowledge in the analysis and design of electrical machinery.
    • You have experience in special electrical drives (e.g. non-conventional electromagnetic actuators) or coupled electromagnetic-mechanical simulations is beneficial.
    • You have hands-on laboratory skills in power electronics, electrical machines and/or drives are an advantage.
    • You are fluent in English (written and oral).
