F rom 1/7/94 to date S elf-employed as a FREELANCE TECHNICAL TRANSLATOR, practising as SPRACHENDIENST ROSENTHAL, building up a successful freelance practice based on more than 30 years of experience in the production and publication of technical translations.
Translations published by McGraw-Hill and other well-known publishers. Official contributor to the Routledge / Langenscheidt German Technical Dictionary. Contract for the provision of translation services to the EU, represented by the European Parliament and the Commission of the European Union. Authorized in 1985 by Oberlandesgericht (Higher Regional State Court) Düsseldorf to provide a full legal certification service for translations.
F rom 1/2/86 to 30/6/94 HEA D OF TECHNICAL TRANSLATION DEP., Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers Technical Services, Caernarvon Barracks, BRITISH ARMY OF THE RHINE, Düsseldorf. Responsible for technical translation activities in both a producing as well as a coordinating capacity: in charge of the R.T.S. translation service and coordinating that work with technical translation production at two other establishments in Wetter and Mönchengladbach, respectively.

1/4/84 - 31/1/86 Self-employed as a FREELANCE TECHNICAL TRANSLATOR. Well known companies like McGraw-Hill Book Company GmbH, Deutsche Babcock AG, DVO (Datenverarbeitung Oberhausen), a.o., have commissioned translations of specialist texts and manuals in the engineering, computing/EDP, business and legal sectors. In addition, MMO (a subsidiary of MEED, London) commissioned translations of articles and tenders for its newsletter aimed at German industrial partners of the Middle East.
1/11/83 - 31/3/84 TRAN SLATOR AND EDITOR with WHO'S WHO - the international red series Verlag GmbH, Essen. Responsible for translating and editing material and entries for WHO'S WHO IN TECHNOLOGY. Also involved in biographical research, and all stages of text preparation prior to publication. Short-term assignment.
1/1/83 - 30/6/83 Promotion to position of SENIOR (LINGUIST ADVERTISING) MONITOR at ADTRACK LTD, Milburn House, Dean Street, Newcastle upon Tyne. This position involved the coordination of the ADTRACK monitoring activities for all countries across Western Europe, computer- coding of advertiser names and brand names, product enquiries, and the monitoring of advertising in Austria and in some German publications. Additionally, responsible for smooth running of the inhouse EDP system.
12/1981 - 31/12/82 E m ployment as LINGUIST ADVERTISING MONITOR at ADTRACK LTD, Milburn House, Dean Street, Newcastle upon Tyne. This is an advertising research company producing monthly reports on advertising in certain product categories across Western Europe. The job involved the monitoring of advertising in all major Western European publications, in a country by country fashion. My principal responsibility was the monitoring of advertising in Germany, and data-entry of details.
10/1976 - 1/1978 SOCIAL SERVICE. Served at AKADEMIE KLAUSENHOF, 4236 Hamminkeln 2 (Dingden), Germany. Duties involved communication and English / French language skills, skilled work such as driving cars and mini-buses, co-organizing exhibitions and sales of craft work from Pakistan and South Korea, as well as cash-desk tasks involving very significant financial responsibility.
