StartUpDiscoveries is a Portuguese investment fund comprised by business angels, operating as a Venture Builder, generating its own business ideas in-house. I recruit Entrepreneurs to develop a business model for each idea, which includes strong market’s validation. If the team’s proposal is approved within our Investment Committee, I create the startup and all required burocracy, provide them equity, financial support and moreover a closed management supervision and mentoring.

I have conducted management and strategy consulting, including innovative business plans for Portuguese and Spanish companies within renewables, digital marketing, agribusiness, tourism, trading and real estate regarding two main aspects: 1) internationalisation, market entry strategy, investment requirements and implementation plans; 2) business operations, cost reduction and marketing including product portfolio analysis and creation of new revenue streams. Invited by Change Partners Private Equity Board to manage the business. I was focused on the strategic planning, marketing, international expansion and creating strategic partnerships. • Surpassed the sales growth target of 30% and EBITDA of 45%, restructuring and motivating the team.

Approached by groups of private investors from Angola, South Africa and Libya to evaluate property development projects in Angola and South Africa, ranging from $4M to $11M. Proposed alternative locations and project solutions considering the projects’ goals in terms of planning, cash flows and ROI maximization. Supported my clients on contracts’ negotiations. Consistently saved 10% to 20% of projects’ budget estimation, improving investors’ cash flows.

Negotiated lease and maintenance contracts of 8 supermarkets and a distribution centre. Reduced the initial estimation of the total contracts value by 12%. Managed circa 30 people. Created 12 new retail businesses and implemented 3. Benchmarked, hired designers and architects to create concepts and designs for different new stores’ brands and chains, including its products. Businesses: retail, food, appliances, home décor and children’s store.

Delivered the feasibility analysis for projects of millions of dollars in different business sectors. Analysed costs, locations, benefits and risks and reported back to the Board. The different assets were financed through investment funds, in some cases managed by me with the support of an accountant. • Led 4 projects (Real Estate/$65M; Logistics Centre/$50M; Car & Truck Centre Complex/$42M). Implemented improvements to achieve total budget savings of 10%, without delays.
