Secop is a leading compressor manufacturer committed to developing and supporting technologies and products that promote energy efficiency. Formerly known as Danfoss Compressors, Secop is one of the founding fathers of modern compressor technology with an experience that goes back to the beginning of the 1950s.
The company is active in the sectors of household, light commercial and DC-powered refrigeration and has developed a range of compressors which operate with the use of hydrocarbons, R600a (isobutane) and R290 (propane).
Secop belonged to the German AURELIUS Group of companies since 2010.
On August 1, 2017, Nidec acquired the German compressor manufacturer Secop. Antitrust concerns about additional acquisitions by the Nidec Corporation in the refrigeration compressor industry led the company to sell off Secop which transitioned to ESSVP IV in September 2019 managed by Orlando Management AG, a successful private equity firm.
