We are searching for the best talent for our Sr. Research Supply & Metrology Engineer (m/f/d) position in Aachen.
The development of novel or improved heart assist systems requires purchase of parts, assemblies, fixtures and tools of known precision. As Research Supply & Metrology Engineer (m/f/d) you will assure quality & precision are met by working together with the team and suppliers, aligning on the specifications and critical dimensions, defining and performing first article inspections as well as performing research related low amount part inspections.
As part of this you will also assure that the required setup, fixtures and measurement tools are well maintained and calibrated.
Main Tasks:
- Working hand-in-hand with team of engineers and suppliers to improve part-specifications with regards to achieving the required quality and precision in parallel to sustain manufacturability and cost sensitivity.
- Challenging of tolerance specifications with focus on DfM, cost reduction and measurability
- Performing first-article-inspections and incoming inspection of research quantities
- Strong team collaboration for identification of critical design aspects and related CAD specification
- Investigation into options for direct measurement of critical dimensions and correlated development/introduction of improved measurement systems
- Assistance for testing new parts with regards to fulfilling their specifications
- Documentation of parts, sub-assemblies, fixtures according to the needs of the quality system
- Identification of Drawings/Documentation improvement requirements
- Providing and storing of test/measurement reports according to Abiomed-J&J standards and requirements
- Assistance in supplier qualification
- Organisation of Calibration & Maintenance incl. required documentation
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Medical Engineering or similar, or a qualification with comparable skills in combination with 5+ years work experience;
- Fluency in German and English;
- Work Experience in 3D-CAD (Solid Works) for more than 3 years;
- Advanced knowledge of measurement technology in combination with quality-inspection/qualification processes including first article inspection;
- Advanced knowledge and working experience in GD&T according to ISO 22081 and surface definition according to ISO 21920;
- Robust knowledge about materials, especially for med-tech usage;
- Extraordinary understanding of 3D-geometries;
- Hands on mentality;
- Experience in mechanical manufacturing (lathing, milling, drilling, grinding)
