Linux OS Developer (m/f/d) - Augsburg or Bucharest

LOCATION: Augsburg, Germany or Bucharest, Romania

THE ROLE:

In our Linux department we are developing the Linux-based IGEL OS. Our developers are responsible for the entire development process from planning to completion, and specialize in areas such as base system, kernel, display support, hardware support, bootloader, window manager, audio, multimedia.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Planning and development of the OS architecture
• Development, integration, maintenance, and testing of OS components (specialized on certain area)
  
• Insurance and verification of OS system security
• Development and integration of customer requirements
• Collaborate with colleagues toward a common goal

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, mathematics or electrical engineering is preferred, or relevant professional experience with qualified technical training
  
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience
• Knowledge of the structure and function of Linux-based systems
  
• Ideally skills and knowledge in the following areas:
  
• Virtualization technologies such as IOMMU, SR-IOV, PCI passthrough, VFIO and para-virtualization
  
• Networking concepts (NAT, bridges, macvtap/macvlan, source-based routing, firewalls, VPN)
  
• Major technologies such as kvm/gemu, VMware, VirtualBox, UTM (Apple Silicon w/ Rosetta)
  
• Migration of virtual machines between technologies, import/export of formats like OVF,...
  
• Guest utilities, especially GPU acceleration
  
• VM cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Compute Engine, Linode,...)
• Advanced programming skills
  
• C/C++
• Python
• Bash
• Advanced skills in at least one area: i.e., base system, kernel, display support, hardware support, bootloader, window manager, audio, multimedia, etc.
• You have no problem grasping complex contexts and working out content independently
• Own development of structures and algorithms based on existing comparable implementations
  
• Moderately complex tasks with easily identifiable influencing factors
• You are willing to familiarize yourself with new topics and to design and implement new solutions as part of a team
